Business Planning

Running a business brings financial complexity that personal finances rarely match, from cash flow and reserves to protecting yourself and eventually stepping back. Good advice at the right time can materially change your outcomes, whether you’re growing, consolidating, or planning your exit.

The Challenge

Many business owners are so focused on running the company that personal and business financial planning slips down the priority list, until a decision point, like a sale, retirement, or unexpected event, forces the issue. By then, options can be limited.

Our Approach

We work closely with business owners to build financial strategies around your specific objectives, whether that’s improving profitability, protecting the business against risk, planning succession, or preparing for a future sale. It’s practical, commercially minded advice, not generic guidance.

What’s Covered

Our business planning advice covers director and shareholder protection, pension planning for business owners, tax-efficient profit extraction, succession and exit planning, and structuring your personal finances alongside the business.

“Martin became our financial adviser as my husband Tony prepared to retire from his directorship at Marsh. Since we lost Tony in 2014, Martin’s advice and support has been exceptional. I have no hesitation in recommending him and his team at Collingbourne”

“I first met Martin when seeking advice on how best to manage our finances from the latter stages of self-employment to a retirement of plausible “comfort and security”. My wife and I will be forever grateful for the unstinting help and wise counsel Martin has provided for the past twenty years. On all things financial, he remains our first port of call.”

“After selling our business we reinvested the proceeds of our lifetime’s work with Collingbourne, who also took to looking after our pension funds. Their expert personal attention has successfully guided us and our family for well over two decades and Martin has always been available when needed. We cannot speak too highly of him and his personnel.”
